Beware though as you're a pretty eacy target when rooted. You can also use Hyper or the Super Jump to get up onto rooftops or other tall structures, then root yourself up high so you have the high ground and can cover a large area from one position. It's also good for defending or attacking control points as enemies will either get caught in the blast and die (the Sombrero Bean Bomb will kill pretty much every enemy it hits, especially if the enemy is already weakened) or they'll run away to avoid it. Even if the bean bomb doesn't hit any enemies, it is very useful in clearing areas, as enemies will likely recognise the noise and try to vacate the area. Using Hyper first then jumping and throwing the bean bomb allows you to throw it even further, or throwing it up over walls etc. The earlier you cancel this ability, the shorter your cooldown.Īs for tactics, I almost always use the Sombrero bean bomb. If you cancel the ability without firing a single pea, you'll be able to use the ability straight away with no cooldown.
When rooted, you gain increased damage resistance until the ability ends. The Retro Gatling ability also roots you and increases the damage you deal per pea, however, you fire at a slower rate. You are, however, able to turn 360 degrees to look, aim and fire. However, once, you will be rooted to the ground, preventing you from moving until you run out of ammo or the ability is deactivated. The Pea Gatling ability turns you into a Gatling Pea, which can shoot peas at an incredibly fact rate for 100 ammo. The Super Bean Jump allows you to jump even higher than Hyper, however you don't get the increased movement speed that you get with Hyper. Hyper increases your speed and jump height, and is a useful tool for getting onto rooftops and up over obstacles. It is a weaker bomb that deals 80 damage to those caught in its radius, however has a much shorter cooldown that the other two, and you can hold and fire two bombs at once. It isn't always available, and is usually only available during some events. The Sombrero Bean Bomb variant has a longer fuse, but has a much wider radius and deals 250 damage to all enemies within range. It has a fuse that is a few seconds long, then the bean explodes, dealing 175 damage to all zombies within its range.
When activated, a Chilli bean Bomb is thrown forward. The majority of the variants deal splash damage as well as standard hit and critical hit damage. Each variant has 125 health, except for the Agent Pea with 100 health, and the Rock Pea with 150 health. This is my preferred class when playing PvP. The Peashooter is the Soldier class of the Plants. Variant Abilities: Super Bean Jump, Sombrero Bean Bomb, Retro Gatling, Dark Bean Bomb As you level a character up and promote them, or unlock more sticker packs, you'll gain access to ability variants.īasic Abilities: Hyper, Chilli Bean Bomb, Pea Gatling The abilities of the variants don't deviate too much from the basic character, although you'll likely find that one of the variants become your favourite character to play as, rather than the basic character (Personally, my favourites are the Vampire Flower and Electro Brainz).
Here is a list of all the characters you can access. I'll give you an overview of each character, then give you a couple of tactics for each. You don't require any of the variants for any achievements, however some of them, such as the Toxic Pea, do make some a lot easier. For example, the standard Peashooter fires once each time you press a trigger, but the Plasma Pea can charge up a shot before firing. These variants will have an altered look, and slightly different primary or secondary fire. As well as a character fitting each class, each character has a number of variants that you unlock via spending in-game currency on sticker packs. Each character has its own specialties, strengths and weaknesses and will loosely fit into a classic class (soldier, tank, medic, support) or a hybrid class. As with many shooters, both the Plants and the Zombies each have a range of characters that you can play as.
